The animated short film “My Dear Lover” tells of a figure's yearning for touch and the impossibility of bringing that about. While one hand is trying to get into contact with the surface of an amorphous body, a voice in the off is reading a love letter. The longed for lover might well stand for an imaginary body, upon which insecurities around human / non-human as well as digital / analogue relationships are played out.

We too cannot believe that in 2020 women* still have to fight for their identity and sexuality. These films present different stories, but the experiences faced by half of the world's population are similar. At the same time, we see two women on the screen — an academic and sculptor, and head of a female fight club, whose professional and personal life have gone against all institutional, social and cultural restrictions.

Lake Urmia in Northern Iran was once the largest lake in the Middle East. But human influence set its course, and brought upon a devastating drought that the lake could not withstand. Today, just 5% of the original lake remains. The majority of the land is now barren and covered by salt. Lake Urmia’s ruin has become a political symbol all over the country. This cinematic essay observes the places of present and past and weaves a new narration with fragments of identity and memory.
