Q&A after the screening
JUCK
Olivia Kastebring, Julia Gumpert, Ulrika Bandeira
Sweden / 2018, 18 min
Juck (literally Hump) is the dance group that made its breakthrough in a 2013 viral video, where they pushed the limits for how the female body is allowed to express itself and make a statement. A film that swings between documentary, dance and fiction asks the question, ›What is femininity?‹
RIOT NOT DIET
Julia Fuhr Mann
Germany, Australia / 2018, 17 min
A golden summer dress in XXL, the ice-lolly drips slowly onto the hot ground. RIOT NOT DIET creates a queer feminist utopia far away from BMI norms and male* gaze.
Donzelle
Marina Hufnagel
Germany / 2018, 19 min
DONZELLE is 'pussy-core kitsch-hop, trilingual party rap' from Montréal. With almost hurting sincerity Roxanne Arsenault raps about life, love, men. The group plays with clichés and body consciousness. Obviously, they are having fun on stage. But is society ready to change its outlook on the female body and feminism itself?
Girlhood
Heleen Declercq
Belgium / 2017, 14 min
Girlhood wants to break the boundaries of the stereotypical concept of femininity. To that end, the maker returns to her childhood where she starts questioning herself about her short hair, missing bikini top and reckless tree climbing. The result of her personal search is a mosaic portrait of young people who each reflect a facet of herself as a young woman. A young woman in search of her personal definition of gender, her sexual orientation and its impact on her suroundings.
