46 touching and sincere stories told by children from the regions near the frontline. These are the voice of a new generation that grew up under the sound of shelling, and it warns against indifference. We could pretend that it didn’t concern us and the war was somewhere far away, but in reality, it was close, and the 24th of February affected everyone. In 2016 and 2017, long before russia’s full-scale invasion, The One Minutes went to Ukraine multiple times for workshops with young people in Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Dobropillia, Kharkiv, Liman, Mariupol, Melitopol, Severodonestk, Sloviansk, and Volnovakha. They sought to find out how children who grew up so close to the frontline lived and what their dreams were. The result of this project is a series of 1-minute films, which we will show for the first time in Ukraine at KISFF. The heroes of these films are no longer children, and many of these cities are now destroyed by russian invaders. For us, this almanac is a reminder that there is no such thing as someone else’s grief.
